One of the most common challenges our client's face is a lack of energy, so we thought we'd share our top tips for starting your day energised!
âïž Get some sunlight. Head outside and get that light on your skin as soon as you can in the morning - it doesn't need to be a sunny day - we know those aren't guaranteed! Even just a small amount of sunlight will boost your serotonin levels, which boosts your mood, increases focus and helps you feel calmer.
đ§ââïž Move your body. You can exercise at any point in the day, but mornings is one of the best times. Exercise makes you feel good. Feeling good and getting your blood moving will boost your energy. Luckily, your favourite yoga studio has an early morning class every day, although if your schedule doesn't permit a whole class, we've got a range of shorter classes you can do from home on our youtube channel.
đŠ Drink water. At all times of the day. But especially in the morning. We lose a lot of water over night so it's important to replenish as soon as you can. Mild dehydration can impact your concentration and alertness, so rehydrating first thing in the morning can counteract that.
đ Eat a light breakfast. Digestion is one of the most energy consuming things our body does. Give yourself the chance to pour that energy into something else by eating a smaller, lighter breakfast, and then eating more later in the day.
đ€ Get good sleep. Easier said than done, but there are a couple of things you can do to ensure you give yourself the best opportunity to get a good night's sleep.
đ Get a schedule. Going to bed and getting up at the same time every day teaches your body when to rest and when to wake up.
đœ Think about your dinner. Eat dinner a few hours before bed so you're not digesting while you sleep, or if that's not possible, eat a larger lunch and a smaller dinner to ensure you get good quality sleep.
đ±Turn off your devices. Your body needs to be exposed to darkness in order to produce melatonin, the sleep hormone. So switch off your screens and turn down your lights at least an hour before bed. Less screen activity will also help you feel less stressed when you head to bed.
So, there you have it. Get a good night's sleep, and then get up early, grab some fruit and some water, head outside for a walk to CSY and get yourself moving!
Let us know how you get on! đ
